Worth knowing
Solaris Power; cover, cost and conditions
Solaris Power builds lobster yachts from thirteen to eighteen metres. The shape comes from the working boat of the American East Coast and is designed for a seaway, not for top speed. For the insurance that is rather favourable: a hull that runs calmly in a swell produces fewer claims than a flat sports boat in the same situation.
These yachts lie almost throughout in the Mediterranean, often in the water all year round. Anyone who leaves them there over the winter should have the cover in winter storage stated in the contract and give the berth precisely. Storm damage at the berth is covered under limited hull cover, but only if the location matches what the contract says.
The model ranges are new, the 44 and 48 Lobster since 2015, the 55 and 60 since 2018. With boats of this age, settlement at the value as new is the most important point in the contract: full hull cover with an agreed value and with no deduction for depreciation, so that a claim is not repaired at your expense.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Is my boat in the Mediterranean also insured in winter?
Yes, the cover runs all year round, in the water as on land. State the winter berth so that it appears in the contract.
What does with no deduction for depreciation mean?
In a repair the new part is replaced in full, without the gain in value compared with the old part being deducted from you. With us this applies under full hull cover.

Series by Solaris Power, with value and cover
Solaris Power 44 / 48 Lobster is a motor yacht from Solaris Power (Italy), built since 2015, and today changes hands at between €690,000 and €1,400,000.
Solaris Power 55 / 60 is a motor yacht from Solaris Power (Italy), built since 2018, and today changes hands at between €1,400,000 and €2,600,000.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
