Worth knowing
Outerlimits; cover, cost and conditions
Behind the name Outerlimits from the USA are offshore racing boats in carbon from 9 to 14 metres. Two model ranges are recorded, the SL 41 and SL 44 since 2000 as well as the SV 29 and SC 37 since 2005, both up to the present day. The yard builds one-off boats for races and records.
One-off boats and small series can be insured at NAMMERT, as can home-built boats. A boat that exists only once in this form therefore needs no special solution, but an agreed value that reflects its worth and is paid out in the event of a claim with no deduction for depreciation.
For racing use, what matters is the information given when the policy is taken out: club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards, and races with official scoring status must be stated expressly. Third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros remains the basis of the policy.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
How is a one-off boat valued?
Through the agreed value, which is settled before the policy begins. Small series and home-built boats can be insured, and compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation, in the Premium tariff without any age limit.
What has to be stated for races?
Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards. State races with official scoring status when you take out the policy so that NAMMERT can expressly include them in the contract.

Series by Outerlimits, with value and cover
Outerlimits SL 41 / SL 44 is a motorboat from Outerlimits (the USA), built since 2000, and today changes hands at between €290,000 and €690,000.
Outerlimits SV 29 / SC 37 is a motorboat from Outerlimits (the USA), built since 2005, and today changes hands at between €150,000 and €420,000.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
