Worth knowing
VPLP Design; cover, cost and conditions
A single multihull is recorded, the Multi 23, listed as a cabin trimaran and in production since 2009. We have no further model ranges on file. A trimaran needs more space ashore than a monohull, and it is precisely during craning and in winter storage that cover matters. Both are included.
Cover applies in winter storage, during craning and launching and while in transit, without any supplementary agreement. Limited hull cover covers fire, storm, lightning strike, theft of the entire boat and damage in winter storage; full hull cover additionally covers collision and grounding.
For the premium the type of boat, the value, the year of construction, the sail area and the cruising range count, not the name of the brand. The value is stated in the policy as an agreed value, and compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old). Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards; races with scoring status you name when taking out the policy.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Is a multihull covered during craning?
Yes, craning, launching, winter storage and transit belong to the cover. Damage arising in the process falls under limited or full hull cover depending on the cause.
Is a trimaran rated differently from a monohull?
The design enters into the premium through the type of boat, together with the value, the year of construction, the sail area and the cruising range. There is no surcharge for the brand.

Series by VPLP Design, build years and cover
Multi 23 is a cabin trimaran from VPLP Design, built since 2009.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On a trimaran the floats and their beams are the weak point, on folding models the mechanism as well.
