Worth knowing
Stöberl; cover, cost and conditions
Sixteen model ranges are on record for this brand. The documented ranges are sailing boats and sailing yachts with build periods running from 1972 to 2016. The Condor 55 ran from 1972 to 2015, the Twin from 1996 to 2016, and there are also sailing yachts such as the Akros, Chiemo and Twin 77.
The basis of every contract is third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros in the Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium levels. From Basis-Plus upwards club races are included. Races with ranking status are declared when you take out the policy so that the cover matches.
A Fighter is insured with us, a model range that was built from 1983 onwards. Full hull cover pays compensation on the basis of the agreed value and with no deduction for depreciation (new for old). The cover also applies in winter storage, during craning, during launching and in transit, because sailing boats spend part of the year ashore.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Are club races included with an older sailing boat?
Club races are included from the Basis-Plus tariff upwards. Report races with ranking status when you take out the policy; the cover is then matched to them and remains reliable in the event of a claim.
Does the year of construction matter for a boat from the seventies?
We insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners. What counts is the agreed value set when the policy is taken out, on the basis of which compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old) in the event of a claim.
The cover that fits
For the whole class of boat
What matters for your boat depends less on the brand than on engine output, how a claim is settled and the waters you sail.

For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
