Worth knowing
Solent Boats Works; cover, cost and conditions
One range is listed as a cabin trimaran, the Flying Mantis, in production since 2017. No further models or size details are available. Multihulls and narrow ranges raise the question of whether cover can be found for them: small series and home-built boats can be insured with us.
What matters is the type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area and cruising range, not the number of units built and not the brand. The third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros forms the basis of the policy, supplemented by limited hull cover or full hull cover in the levels Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium.
In full hull cover an agreed value is set and compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old"). Include equipment and electronics in the list so that the value set is complete. Club races are included from the Basis-Plus tariff onwards.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Can multihulls built in small series be insured?
Yes. Small series and home-built boats can be insured. For the premium, the type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area and cruising range count; the number of units built does not enter into it.
How do I cover equipment carried on board?
Through the list underlying the agreed value. Whatever is recorded there counts as the value set in the event of a claim; theft of parts including the outboard is covered by full hull cover.

What matters for catamarans and multihulls is the same across every brand; engine output, how a claim is settled, cruising range and theft protection. The class page lists every point and every brand in this class.

Series by Solent Boats Works, build years and cover
Flying Mantis is a cabin trimaran from Solent Boats Works, built since 2017.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On a trimaran the floats and their beams are the weak point, on folding models the mechanism as well.
