Worth knowing
Sialia Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
Sialia builds electric sports boats in the upper segment in Poland, hulls of around seventeen metres with large battery capacity and values in the high six-figure range. With craft of this class the insurance goes beyond the standard policy: the sum insured is in the order of magnitude in which we obtain an approval from the risk carrier, and that requires lead time.
Through our calculator we underwrite up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros. A Sialia lies below that, but in the range in which a valuation report is a requirement, not optional. The report sets out hull, propulsion, battery and equipment separately, and we adopt this breakdown into the contract. Only in this way is it clear in a partial loss which value is affected.
On a boat of this size the battery is an item in the six-figure range. Fire and thermal runaway are covered if the charging infrastructure corresponds to the yard specification; with a capacity of this magnitude that means a dedicated connection in the marina, not an ordinary shore power connection. Clarify this with the harbour master before you take over the boat.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Do I need a valuation report?
In this value class yes, and it is not a formality: we adopt the breakdown into hull, propulsion, battery and equipment into the contract.
What charging infrastructure do I need?
A dedicated connection according to the yard specification, not ordinary shore power. Clarify this with the harbour master before taking the boat over.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On an electric boat the battery is the largest single item. It belongs in the sum insured, otherwise the most expensive part is missing in a total loss.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
