Worth knowing
Oyster Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
Oyster of Southampton builds blue water yachts for circumnavigations, with a deck saloon, solid construction and values in the seven-figure range. Anyone who owns an Oyster usually sails it far, and that is exactly where standard policies stop.
What is needed is a genuinely worldwide cruising range with no time limit and no obligation to return, with the option of a berth outside Europe and without hurricane or cyclone exclusion clauses. In addition, salvage costs at a level that matches the value: in the Premium tariff up to 2.5 million euros including wreck removal. A cap in the five-figure range is ineffective in this value class.

For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
