Worth knowing
Novamarine; cover, cost and conditions
Novamarine builds rigid inflatable boats from 7 to 14 metres in Italy; recorded are the Black Shiver 120 / 140 and the RH 850 / 1000, both since the 2000s and still today. With powered boats of this size, the engine output is one of the premium factors.
Alongside sports boats, units are built for coastguard and navy use. What counts for the private policy is the boat you take out: the type of boat, the value, the year of construction, the engine output and the cruising range determine the premium, never the brand. The trailer is included in the boat insurance at no extra premium.
On these boats the propulsion equipment sits on the transom and can be removed. The full hull cover covers theft of parts including the outboard as well as collision, grounding and vandalism, and compensation is paid via the agreed value with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Does the cover also apply on trips in coastal waters?
The cruising range is set out in the contract. In the hull cover there is no time window and no night clause; collision, grounding and vandalism are covered.
How high can the third-party liability cover be chosen?
Between 10 and 50 million euros, graded across Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium. Third-party liability forms the basis, and the hull modules are built on top of it.

What matters for inflatables and RIBs is the same across every brand; engine output, how a claim is settled, cruising range and theft protection. The class page lists every point and every brand in this class.

Series by Novamarine, with value and cover
Novamarine Black Shiver 120 / 140 is an inflatable with engine from Novamarine (Italy), built since 2005, and today changes hands at between €90,000 and €220,000.
Novamarine RH 850 / 1000 is an inflatable with engine from Novamarine (Italy), built since 2000, and today changes hands at between €60,000 and €150,000.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On an inflatable the cause decides, not the damage: a tear from impact is covered, porous fabric after years in the sun is not. The outboard belongs in the policy with its serial number.
