nortik builds hybrid folding boats that combine a frame with inflatable elements; scubi and argo are lighter and quicker to assemble than classic folding boats and are still suitable for touring in terms of handling. This construction brings both damage patterns with it: the frame of a folding boat and the chambers of an inflatable boat.
For hull insurance this means that two groups of components have to be considered. On the frame, breakage due to load is covered, ageing of the material is not. On the chambers, damage from outside is covered, ageing of the material is not. In practice the classification is usually clear: a broken tube after a capsize is an event, a porous air tube after fifteen years is wear and tear.
Because these boats are transported in a pack sack, theft is the relevant risk. Full hull cover covers theft from locked rooms and vehicles; for a boat that travels abroad with you, that is the most important point in practice.
