Worth knowing
Norisboat; cover, cost and conditions
Norisboat boats are compact sports and cabin boats for inland waters. They are usually trailered, and trailer operation is the part of a boat's life in which damage happens: launching, lashing down, manoeuvring. Transport, launching and craning are included with us, and the trailer is covered at no extra premium.
For inland waters there is also the obligation to display registration markings from 3 hp and the recreational boating licence from 15 hp. Both belong to registration law, not insurance law, but anyone sailing without the required licence puts cover at risk in the event of a claim.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Is the trailer insured as well?
Yes, at no extra premium within the boat insurance, provided you state the trailer value in the calculator.
What happens in the event of a claim without a licence?
Anyone sailing where a licence is required and not holding one risks the insurance cover. This also applies to guests who take the helm.

Licence
A powerboat licence (inland or coastal) is required from 15 hp (11.03 kW).
Registration
Registration from 3 hp; for trips abroad carry the boat certificate or flag document.
Waters
Inland, coastal and abroad; plan fairways, bridge clearances, draught and tides.
Equipment
Lifesaving gear, fire extinguisher, anchor, signalling equipment and correct navigation lights.
Cruising range
The agreed cruising range is stated in the policy and can be extended at any time.
Weather
Check wind force in Beaufort and wind direction before casting off, and allow for gusts.
General guidance, not a complete account; what governs are the rules of the waters you are on and your boat’s manual. Current wind force and direction for your waters are shown on the Home.
Series by Norisboat, with value and cover
Norisboat 470 / 550 is a motorboat from Norisboat (Germany), built from 1980 to 2005, and today changes hands at between €3,000 and €12,000.
Norisboat 620 / 700 Cabin is a motorboat from Norisboat (Germany), built from 1985 to 2010, and today changes hands at between €8,000 and €28,000.
Norisboat Maritim 420 / 500 is a motorboat from Norisboat (Germany), built from 1985 to 2010, and today changes hands at between €4,000 and €16,000.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
