Nordhavn; cover, cost and conditions
Nordhavn builds displacement trawlers between 13 and 30 metres that are built for ocean passages under engine, and the yard has crossed the Atlantic and the Pacific with its own boats. They are the only series-built motor yachts for which world cruising is not a marketing term. For the insurance this means: with these yachts the worldwide cruising range is not an add-on, but the appropriate level.
With world cruising one point is added that coastal yachts do not have: the question of what happens with a claim 1,000 nautical miles from the nearest yard. Salvage and towing costs are covered within the scope of the conditions, but the amount scales with the distance. Anyone planning an ocean passage should discuss this with us beforehand, and deductible, salvage cover and cruising range then belong to be clarified individually, not across the board.

Can world cruising be insured?
Yes, the worldwide cruising range applies without restriction. On ocean passages, however, salvage cover and deductible should be discussed individually, as the costs scale with the distance to the nearest yard.

Licence
A powerboat licence (inland or coastal) is required from 15 hp (11.03 kW).
Registration

Nordhavn 41 / 47 is a motor yacht from Nordhavn (the USA), built since 2000, and today changes hands at between €600,000 and €1,600,000.
Nordhavn 57 / 68 is a motor yacht from Nordhavn (the USA), built since 2005, and today changes hands at between €1,400,000 and €3,800,000.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
