Worth knowing
Mat Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
The list for Mat Yachts from Greece contains two ranges, the MAT 1010 / 1180 and the MAT 1220, built from 2010 and from 2015 respectively up to the present day. Lengths of 10 to 12 metres are stated and carbon as the construction method. Use in ORC races is also mentioned, and that belongs in the application.
Club races are included with us from Basis-Plus. You report races with scoring status when taking out the policy; the hull cover then remains in place for those starts as well and in the event of a claim no discussion arises about the use of the boat.
The premium is determined by sail area, value, year of construction, type of boat and cruising range. In the full hull cover the agreed value applies, compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), and collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard are added.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
What applies to starts with scoring status?
You state them when taking out the policy. Club races are included from Basis-Plus, and for races with scoring status the scope is defined in advance.
How does the construction method affect the contract?
The calculation is based on type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area and cruising range. The carbon construction mentioned in the data takes effect through the value, which is set as an agreed value.

Series by Mat Yachts, with value and cover
MAT 1010 / 1180 is a sailing yacht from Mat Yachts (GR), built since 2010, and today changes hands at between €190,000 and €390,000.
MAT 1220 is a sailing yacht from Mat Yachts (GR), built since 2015, and today changes hands at between €420,000 and €620,000.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
