Worth knowing
Mariver; cover, cost and conditions
Four model ranges are recorded under Mariver, built from 1974 onwards and discontinued between 1982 and 1990. A purchase is therefore always a second-hand purchase, and what counts for the contract is the replacement value, which we record as an agreed value. Full hull cover then pays compensation with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).
Galatea, Pierrot and Fenicia are listed as sailing yachts, the Cocaletta as a sailing boat. In all cases the sail area takes the place of the engine power, supplemented by the value, year of construction and cruising range. Beneath this lies third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros.
When buying second-hand, the legal expenses cover for water sports is a help, as it covers disputes after the purchase of a used boat and disputes with a shipyard. For the contract itself the following applies: we provide cover regardless of the year of construction, the place of purchase and previous owners, and full hull cover calculates with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
How do you secure the value of a boat from the seventies?
By means of an agreed value that is arranged when the policy is taken out. Full hull cover then pays compensation with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff without an age limit.
Does the contract also cover grounding?
Grounding belongs to full hull cover, together with collision, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard. Fire, storm, lightning strike and theft of the entire boat are already contained in the limited hull cover.

Series by Mariver, build years and cover
Galatea is a sailing yacht from Mariver, built from 1974 to 1990.
Pierrot is a sailing yacht from Mariver, built from 1974 to 1984.
Cocaletta is a sailing boat from Mariver, built from 1974 to 1982.
Fenicia is a sailing yacht from Mariver, built from 1974 to 1982.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
