Worth knowing
Lytton; cover, cost and conditions
The amount of the limit of indemnity decides how far third-party liability carries in a serious case: 10 to 50 million euros are possible depending on the tariff level. At Lytton three ranges are in the programme, the Discovery 850, the Holiday Cruiser 850 and the sailing boat Holiday 18/590.
Building took place between 1973 and 1983, so production lies entirely in the past. Two ranges are motor yachts, one is a sailing boat, and accordingly engine power counts in one case and sail area in the other for the premium. Value, year of build and cruising range are added in each case.
For boats from this period the agreed value of the full hull cover is the decisive point, because indemnity is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff with no age limit. A switch remains straightforward, because NAMMERT cancels the old contract free of charge and no gap in cover arises.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
How do I choose the right limit of indemnity?
It follows from the tariff level: Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium cover between 10 and 50 million euros. Anyone often under way in foreign harbours generally chooses the higher level.
Do the same conditions apply to a sailing boat and a motor yacht?
The scope of cover is the same. What differs are the premium factors: on the sailing boat the sail area, on the motor yacht the engine power, plus value, year of build and cruising range.

Series by Lytton, build years and cover
Discovery 850 is a motor yacht from Lytton, built from 1976 to 1983.
Holiday 18/590 is a sailing boat from Lytton, built from 1973 to 1982.
Holiday Cruiser 850 is a motor yacht from Lytton, built from 1975 to 1982.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
