Worth knowing
Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding Inc.; cover, cost and conditions
Four ranges are recorded for Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding, running from 2018 to the present: the e33 LM and the LM 46 as sailing yachts, the Hood 35 LM and the Monhegan 42 Extended Cruiser as motor boats. Sail and motor thus stand side by side, which shows in how the premium is determined.
With the motor boats in this line-up engine power is one of the premium factors, while with the sailing yachts the sail area takes its place. Type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range are added to this. The brand is left out of account and does not feed into the premium.
The same set of tariffs applies to current years of construction as to older boats. Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros you take out the policy online; above that we examine the individual case. Full hull cover works with an agreed value and pays with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old"), in the Premium tariff without an age limit.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
How do sail and motor models differ in the premium?
With motor boats engine power is included, with sailing yachts the sail area. Type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range count in both cases, whereas the manufacturer does not.
Above what amount is an online policy no longer possible?
Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros the policy is taken out online. If the value is above that, an individual assessment follows in which we tailor the cover to the boat.

Series by Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding Inc., build years and cover
e33 LM is a sailing yacht from Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding Inc., built since 2018.
Hood 35 LM is a motorboat from Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding Inc., built since 2018.
LM 46 is a sailing yacht from Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding Inc., built since 2018.
Monhegan 42 Extended Cruiser is a motorboat from Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding Inc., built since 2018.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
