Lund has been building aluminium fishing boats in Minnesota since 1948 and is known in North America for the IPS hull, a hull shape with pronounced longitudinal steps for a steady ride. In Europe, Lund boats arrive through import and usually sit on a trailer. For aluminium boats the principle is: the hull lasts, while the engine and the electronics determine the value. List both separately in the sum insured.
With a trailered fishing boat, the road is the greatest risk. A rear-end collision with the trailer, a stone chip in the hull, a strap that has slipped on the motorway: damage in transport is covered by our hull insurance if suitable means of transport were used. An overloaded or undersized trailer is not one of them. Check the permissible gross weight against the boat, the engine and the equipment, not against the unladen weight from the brochure.
