Lomac Nautica; cover, cost and conditions
Since the sixties Lomac has been building inflatable boats and RIBs of more than twelve metres in Italy, from small tenders to inboard boats with a cabin that count as fully fledged sports boats. This range means: a Lomac may need a policy like a dinghy or like a motor yacht. Decisive are length, engine output and value, not the construction of the tube.
With the larger models with inboard drive, topics arise that smaller inflatable boats do not have: shaft system, drive gland, bilge pumps and an engine room in which a fire can start. Fire, explosion and ingress of water are covered under our hull insurance, including consequential damage to the drive. A working automatic bilge pump and a fire extinguisher in the engine room are conditions that the yard prescribes just as we expect them.
For Lomac owners in the Mediterranean, proof of insurance is the practical topic. Italy, Croatia and Spain require it, in Croatia on request in the national language. The international certificate of insurance is enclosed with every policy in ten languages. Anyone berthed in the Mediterranean also needs the cruising range level North Sea/Baltic Sea and Mediterranean, it costs considerably less than worldwide cover.

Nautical information What counts before you cast off, papers, equipment, waters
Licence
Required inland and at sea from 15 hp (11.03 kW); below that, none.
Registration
Registration from 3 hp; carry the boat certificate on maritime shipping routes.
Waters
Inland lakes, the coast and the Wadden Sea, mind the tide tables and the fairway.
Equipment
Lifejackets, paddles, pump, repair kit, anchor gear and signalling equipment.
Cruising range
RIBs close to the coast; check air pressure before every trip and after temperature swings.
Weather
From Beaufort 4 the ride turns hard, and offshore wind sharply raises the risk of drifting.
General guidance, not a complete account; what governs are the rules of the waters you are on and your boat’s manual. Current wind force and direction for your waters are shown on the Home.
Series by Lomac, with value and cover
Lomac Nautica 270 / 380 is an inflatable without engine from Lomac, built since 1995, and today changes hands at between €2,000 and €12,000.
Lomac Adrenalina 8.5 / 10.5 is an inflatable with engine from Lomac, built since 2005, and today changes hands at between €90,000 and €290,000.
Lomac Gran Turismo 12.0 is a motor yacht from Lomac, built since 2012, and today changes hands at between €290,000 and €620,000.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repairs are predictable. Still, set the value at replacement cost, including sails, rigging or gear you bought later.
Even without an engine the rule holds: a tear from impact or vandalism is covered, UV ageing is wear.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On an inflatable the cause decides, not the damage: a tear from impact is covered, porous fabric after years in the sun is not. The outboard belongs in the policy with its serial number.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
