Worth knowing
Lift Foils; cover, cost and conditions
In Puerto Rico Lift Foils builds e-foils that are regarded as a benchmark in the market, carbon boards with interchangeable foil sets and values in the five-figure range. This modularity is a point in insurance terms: anyone who owns several foil sets and masts has equipment worth as much as a small car which is not attached to the board but lies in the shed.
List these sets in the application as technical equipment, not as a lump sum within the equipment value. Only declared items are replaced in full in the event of a claim, and theft from the boathouse or the vehicle is a real occurrence with foil sets. A carbon mast with a wing is light, valuable and removed without tools.
In operation the rules for motorised watersports craft apply: registration marking from 3 hp, a licence on inland waters from 15 hp, no operation in Bavaria and on Lake Constance, and in Austria regulation under the law of the individual state. The battery is to be charged according to the manufacturer's instructions; under this condition fire and thermal runaway are covered by our hull insurance, including consequential damage to the board.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
How do I insure several foil sets?
As technical equipment with its own item in the application. Only declared values are replaced in full, including in the case of theft from a boathouse or vehicle.
Does the cover also apply ashore?
Yes, storage and transport are included. Theft from a locked room or vehicle is covered by full hull cover.

Licence
Inland from 15 hp (11.03 kW); on the Rhine already from 5 hp.
Registration
Registration from 3 hp (about 2.21 kW); which covers nearly every board.
Waters
Not permitted in Bavaria or on Lake Constance; in Austria regulated region by region.
Equipment
Helmet, impact vest, leash; charge and carry the battery only in an intact case.
Cruising range
Stay within sight of shore and keep enough charge for the way back.
Weather
Offshore wind is the main risk; from Beaufort 4 a battery failure means drifting out.
General guidance, not a complete account; what governs are the rules of the waters you are on and your boat’s manual. Current wind force and direction for your waters are shown on the Home.
Series by Lift Foils, with value and cover
Lift eFoil 1 / 2 is a jetboard or eFoil from Lift Foils (PR), built from 2018 to 2024, and today changes hands at between €8,000 and €14,000.
Lift5 / Lift5 Carbon is a jetboard or eFoil from Lift Foils (PR), built since 2023, and today changes hands at between €11,000 and €20,000.
Lift3 F / Lift4 is a jetboard or eFoil from Lift Foils (PR), built since 2019, and today changes hands at between €11,000 and €20,000.
Lift Board 4,9 Sport is a motorboat from Lift Foils (PR), built since 2019, and today changes hands at between €11,000 and €19,000.
Lift eFoil 3 / 4 Serie is a motorboat from Lift Foils (PR), built since 2018, and today changes hands at between €11,000 and €19,000.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On jetboards and eFoils the battery is the point: a fire is covered, a loss of capacity over the years is wear.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
