Lagoon Catamarans; cover, cost and conditions
Lagoon from Bordeaux is the largest catamaran manufacturer in the world and belongs to Groupe Beneteau. A large part of the fleet sails in charter operations in Croatia, Greece and the Caribbean. With catamarans there is one mistake that affects almost every contract: valuation by length.
A twelve-metre cat has two hulls, two drives, two steering systems and twice the number of components of a monohull of the same length, with repair costs that are correspondingly higher. Anyone who insures by length is underinsured. Have the value reflected by an agreed value that carries the actual replacement value including drives and electronics.
For Lagoons in charter fleets the following applies: the charter operator insures its own use, not your interests as owner. Both belong to be examined separately before the contract runs. If you occasionally let the boat yourself, private letting of up to 30 days in the insurance year is included with us, and a written rental agreement must exist. Beyond that it is commercial use.
