Krash Industries builds freestyle jet skis in Australia, light stand-up racing machines for jumps, tricks and competition, far removed from the seated jet ski for a family outing. This use is the defining point of the policy: freestyle means deliberate somersaults, hard impacts on the water and frequent falls by the rider. For the rider, personal accident cover is therefore the more important element, not the hull insurance.
A clear limit applies in the hull insurance. Fire, theft, storm damage, collision and grounding are covered. Damage arising from freestyle use as intended is not covered, the impact after a backflip is not an accident but the purpose of the machine. Anyone taking part in competitions also needs the regatta and race inclusion; without it, racing is not covered.
Third-party liability is indispensable with stand-up jet skis and in Germany is a prerequisite for use on almost all waters. A jet ski reaches speeds within seconds at which a collision with a swimmer means serious injury. Ten to fifty million euros limit of indemnity is the core of the protection here, whereas the material value of the machine is secondary.
