Worth knowing
Klaus Maaß; cover, cost and conditions
For Klaus Maaß one model range is on file, the motorboat KM 480 with years of construction from 1999 to 2005. Further ranges are not recorded, and about the yard itself there is no information. What is insured is therefore simply the individual boat with everything permanently installed and everything loose on board that belongs to it.
If an outboard is fitted, it is part of the insured scope: theft of parts including the outboard is covered under full hull cover, as are vandalism, collision and grounding. The theft of the entire boat is already part of limited hull cover, together with fire, storm, lightning strike and damage in winter storage.
The premium follows type of boat, value, year of construction, engine power and cruising range, never the brand. A trailer is included at no extra premium, and in winter storage, during craning and on the transport route the cover remains in place. Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros you take out the policy online, above that we assess each case individually.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
What happens if only the engine is stolen?
Theft of parts including the outboard is covered under full hull cover. Compensation is based on the agreed value, with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old") and with no time window in the hull cover.
Does vandalism at the berth count as covered damage?
Yes, vandalism is part of full hull cover, as are collision and grounding. There is no night clause, the cover applies around the clock, including in winter storage.

Series by Klaus Maaß, build years and cover
KM 480 is a motorboat from Klaus Maaß, built from 1999 to 2005.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
