When buying an older sailing boat the replacement value is the decisive figure. From Hermes-Plastik four model ranges are recorded, the Kim-A type, the Kim-B type, the Kim Kreuzer and the Kim Jollenkreuzer, built between 1967 and 1980. We fix this value in the contract as an agreed value.
Production lies far in the past, and further information about the yard is not available to us. That changes nothing about the insurability: we insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners, and in the Premium tariff the agreed value applies with no age limit.
On sailing boats the sail area enters into the premium, together with value, year of construction, type of boat and cruising range. Club races are included from Basis-Plus. If a dispute with the seller or a yard arises after the purchase, we also offer legal expenses cover for water sports.

How is the value of a Kim Kreuzer determined?
You report value and equipment, and from this we agree an agreed value. In the event of a claim it is the basis of the indemnity, and a deduction for depreciation (new for old) does not apply.
Are boats from the sixties still insurable?
Yes. Year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners play no part. Small series and home-built boats can be covered as well, in the Premium tariff with no age limit on the agreed value.
