Cantieri Gobbi; cover, cost and conditions
Gobbi built sport cruisers in northern Italy that today are mostly under way as well-maintained used boats. The yard now belongs to the Azimut-Benetti group, and the models continue as Atlantis. For owners of older Gobbi boats this means: parts from the production period are scarce, and the valuation should take that into account.
Inboard installations with shaft drive are the rule on the larger models. The typical claim is the bent shaft after grounding, often with consequential damage to the gearbox. That is full hull cover, not limited hull cover, and it is the reason why we advise against limited hull cover alone on boats over 8 metres.
A berth in the Mediterranean also means storm risk. Autumn mistral and bora conditions regularly cause damage in marinas because boats strike against each other. Good fenders and doubled mooring lines are cheaper than any deductible, and in the event of a claim what counts is that the boat was properly moored.

Is gearbox damage after grounding covered?
In full hull cover yes, including the shaft, the propeller and consequential damage to the drive. Limited hull cover excludes grounding.
Does the insurance pay for storm damage in the marina?
Yes, storm is already covered in the limited hull cover. The condition is proper mooring; record the condition after a storm with photographs.
