The DY KOT range covers 29 models built since 1996, split across sailing yachts, motor yachts, motor boats and open sailing dinghies. The core is formed by the Delphia Escape and Delphia BluEscape motor yacht lines, the Delphia 47 sailing yacht and the Delphia 24 One Design. The small Cortina motor boats sit at the lower end of a length range that runs from 4.6 to 14.3 metres.
For insuring a DY KOT boat this spread has two consequences. On the older Delphia and Cortina model years an agreed value works better than a depreciated value, because the sum insured is then fixed in advance instead of being renegotiated after a claim. Across such a wide length range the value and the cruising area have to be stated precisely, since both define the scope of the hull cover. On the trailerable Cortina boats third party liability is the basis, and road transport on the trailer can be included.

Can a Delphia 47 from 2006 still be insured?
Yes. There is no cut off year for DY KOT models, and the range on record goes back to 1996. For model years like this an agreed value is advisable so the sum insured is settled up front.
Is trailer transport of a Cortina 555 covered?
Transport on the trailer can be added to the hull cover. On the small DY KOT motor boats of around five to six metres this is usual when the boat is moved by trailer.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
