Worth knowing
DNS; cover, cost and conditions
Three motor yachts are on file: Privateer 31, Privateer 34 and Privateer 37 AK, built between 1995 and 2007. New units are no longer being produced; every yacht of these ranges changes hands today as a used boat. It is exactly at this point that the insurance question begins.
After the purchase of a used boat, a dispute about warranted characteristics can arise. For such cases we also offer the legal expenses cover for water sports, which applies to disputes with a yard as well. It supplements third-party liability, limited hull cover and full hull cover, but does not replace them.
Full hull cover secures collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard, with an agreed value and with no deduction for depreciation (new for old). For a Privateer from the nineteen nineties the Premium tariff is of interest, because no age limit applies there.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Does legal expenses cover help after a boat purchase?
It is tailored to disputes after the purchase of a used boat and to disputes with a yard, and it can be taken out together with the boat insurance.
Which tariff level suits a yacht from 1995?
The Premium tariff dispenses with an age limit in full hull cover and pays with no deduction for depreciation (new for old). Basis and Basis-Plus are also open, but differ in scope.

Series by DNS, build years and cover
Privateer 37 AK is a motor yacht from DNS, built from 1995 to 2007.
Privateer 31 is a motor yacht from DNS, built from 1995 to 2001.
Privateer 34 is a motor yacht from DNS, built from 1995 to 2001.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
