Worth knowing
Denninger & Maile; cover, cost and conditions
Two model ranges are on record for Denninger & Maile: the Binnenkreuzer 22 m² as a sailing boat with build years 1997 to 2003 and the TC 35 cabin catamaran from the years 1982 to 1989. Small series and home-built boats can be insured at NAMMERT, and a large model programme is not a prerequisite for the policy.
The sailing boat and the cabin catamaran are rated on the basis of their own data: on sailing craft the sail area is taken into account, together with the type of boat, the value, the year of construction and the cruising range. The brand is of no significance for the premium. Full hull cover works with an agreed value and with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old").
Both ranges were built some time ago. Insurance is provided regardless of the year of construction, the place of purchase and previous owners, and in the Premium tariff the age limit of full hull cover does not apply. Limited hull cover includes fire, storm, lightning strike, theft of the whole boat and damage in winter storage.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Can a home-built boat or a small series be covered?
Yes. Small series and home-built boats can be insured. For the rating what counts is the data of the boat itself, that is the type of boat, the value, the year of construction, the sail area or the engine power and the cruising range.
Is a cabin catamaran treated differently from a monohull?
The type of boat goes into the calculation, and so do the value, the year of construction, the sail area or the engine power and the cruising range. The scope of cover from third-party liability, limited hull cover and full hull cover remains the same.

Nautical information What counts before you cast off, papers, equipment, waters
Licence
Under sail no licence is needed; with an auxiliary engine from 15 hp one is.
Registration
Official number or boat certificate; a flag document for trips abroad.
Waters
Inland lakes, the Baltic and the North Sea; tide, current and shoals belong in the passage plan.
Equipment
Lifejackets, harness and jackstays, lifebuoy, distress signals, reefing system.
Cruising range
Certificate of insurance for foreign harbours; check that racing is covered.
Weather
Reef in time: first reef from Beaufort 5, second from 6, watch the gust forecast.
General guidance, not a complete account; what governs are the rules of the waters you are on and your boat’s manual. Current wind force and direction for your waters are shown on the Home.
Series by Denninger & Maile, build years and cover
Binnenkreuzer 22 m² is a sailing boat from Denninger & Maile, built from 1997 to 2003.
TC 35 is a cabin catamaran from Denninger & Maile, built from 1982 to 1989.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part, and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
