Worth knowing
Cenit Trading; cover, cost and conditions
With sailing yachts the sail area replaces the engine power in the premium calculation. The Cenit 33 and the Cenit 40 were built over a period of around 25 years, from 1980 and 1983 respectively until 2005. Type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range are added as further factors.
Production that ended in 2005 means that every yacht of these ranges changes hands second-hand today. For the purchase price or the replacement value we agree an agreed value, paid out with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old"), in the Premium tariff with no age limit.
Legal expenses cover for water sports can be included and takes effect in a dispute after buying a second-hand boat or with a yard. Third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros remains the basis, and club races are included from the Basis-Plus tier onwards.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Why is the sail area asked for?
With sailing boats it takes the place of the engine power. Together with type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range it produces the premium. The brand name never enters into the calculation.
Are races with a Cenit included?
Club races are included from Basis-Plus onwards. Report races with official scoring status when taking out cover, so that the hull cover fits the actual use.

For the whole class of boat
What matters for sailing boats and sailing yachts is the same across every brand; engine output, how a claim is settled, cruising range and theft protection. The class page lists every point and every brand in this class.

Series by Cenit Trading, build years and cover
Cenit 33 is a sailing yacht from Cenit Trading, built from 1980 to 2005.
Cenit 40 is a sailing yacht from Cenit Trading, built from 1983 to 2005.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
