Catamarans have their own risk profile. The beam calls for special berths and makes craning and slipping more involved, and a substantial share of damage arises exactly there. On boats from the Far East there is also the delivery to the home water: a long distance passage is a risk of its own and must be agreed before departure, otherwise cover is missing en route.

Is the delivery voyage of a catamaran bought in Thailand insured?
Only if it is expressly agreed. A long distance delivery is assessed separately, looking at route, season, crew and equipment. Report it before departure and it can be covered.
Why does a catamaran cost more than a monohull of the same length?
Because the value is higher and berth, craning and repair are more involved with two hulls. The calculator shows the exact difference once length, value and cruising area are entered.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part, and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
