Worth knowing
Cat-Yachting; cover, cost and conditions
With the Twin Surfer one open catamaran is recorded, built between 1996 and 2005. No further ranges are available. On a sailing craft the sail area takes the place of engine power; alongside the type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range it is the factor that determines the premium.
For the hull insurance the agreed figure counts. We record it as an agreed value and pay indemnity with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old"), in the Premium tariff with no age limit. Covered are collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts, plus fire, storm, lightning strike and theft of the whole boat.
If the catamaran is taken to the sailing area on a trailer, the trailer is included at no extra premium, and cover applies while in transport, during launching and in winter storage. Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards, races with ranking status you report when taking out the policy.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
What determines the premium for a sailing craft?
Instead of engine power, the sail area enters the calculation, together with the type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range. The brand itself has no influence on the premium.
Are club regatta starts covered?
Club races are included from the Basis-Plus tariff upwards. Races with ranking status you state when taking out the policy, so that cover for these starts is expressly agreed.

Series by Cat-Yachting, build years and cover
Twin Surfer is an open catamaran from Cat-Yachting, built from 1996 to 2005.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
Open catamarans are beached and trailed, so most damage happens ashore and in transit, not on the water.
