Worth knowing
Cascom; cover, cost and conditions
The cruising range helps determine the premium: inland waters, coast or further out. The four documented model ranges from Cascom, the 44, the 55, the 60 and the Lunstroo Schoner, were built between 1986 and 1993. For sailing yachts from these years of construction we fix the cruising range when the policy is taken out.
Beyond that, nothing is on record about the yard itself, which is of no consequence for the policy. Type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area and cruising range determine the premium, never the name of the yard. Third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros forms the basis.
Boats from the 1980s usually change hands today through the used market. We insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners and agree an agreed value with no deduction for depreciation. Legal expenses cover for water sports covers disputes following the purchase of a used boat.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Does the premium change if I move from the coast to inland waters?
The cruising range is one of the factors for the premium, alongside the type of boat, value, year of construction and sail area. Let us know about a change of waters so that the policy matches the actual use.
How are yachts from the 1980s valued?
Through an agreed value that is settled when the policy is taken out. In the event of a claim we pay compensation with no deduction for depreciation, in the Premium tariff without any age limit for the year of construction.

Series by Cascom, build years and cover
Cascom 44 is a sailing yacht from Cascom, built from 1986 to 1993.
Cascom 55 is a sailing yacht from Cascom, built from 1986 to 1993.
Cascom 60 is a sailing yacht from Cascom, built from 1986 to 1993.
Lunstroo Schoner is a sailing yacht from Cascom, built from 1986 to 1993.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
