Worth knowing
Bente Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
Bente builds sailing yachts in Germany with an unusual design language, the Bente 24 as a trailerable cruising yacht with a lifting keel, the Bente 39 as a fast cruising yacht. The yard is young and builds in small numbers using modern laminating processes.
With the Bente 24 the trailerability is the point that matters for insurance: transport by suitable means of transport is covered, and the trailer belongs in the sum insured with a value of its own. On both models the lifting keel is moving machinery, grounding damage is covered under full hull cover, wear to the lifting mechanism is not. Launching and stepping the mast are where most damage to trailerable yachts occurs.

Series by Bente, with value and cover
Bente 24 One Design is a sailing boat from Bente (Germany), built since 2015, and today changes hands at between €45,000 and €75,000.
Bente 39 is a sailing yacht from Bente (Germany), built since 2019, and today changes hands at between €190,000 and €290,000.
Bente 24 is a sailing yacht from Bente (Germany), built since 2015, and today changes hands at between €55,000 and €260,000.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
