Electric boats bring their own insurance points. The battery is the single most expensive component and reacts badly to water ingress, and a fire in a lithium battery is a loss picture that a yard treats differently from engine damage. Make sure the hull cover explicitly includes the battery and that the sum insured reflects it, not just the hull.

Is the battery of an E-Tender covered?
Yes, provided it is part of the sum insured and named in the policy. As the battery makes up a large share of the value, it should be listed explicitly rather than being folded silently into equipment.
Does an electric boat cost more than a comparable motorboat?
Not as a matter of principle. What decides is value, length and cruising area. Because electric boats often cost more to buy, the sum insured is higher, and the premium rises through that rather than through the type of drive.

On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
