Awake builds premium electric jetboards and e-foils in Sweden, RÄVIK as the jetboard, VINGA as the foil, both with a swappable battery and values in the mid four-figure to five-figure range. At these prices hull insurance is no longer a side issue: a total loss or a theft affects a sum for which you could buy a used motorboat.
With the foil there is an additional focus of damage. The wing beneath the board is made of carbon, projects far downwards and is the first thing to make contact with the bottom, a jetty or floating debris. Foil damage is covered by full hull cover in the event of collision and grounding, but not in the event of wear or delamination through ageing. Check whether your deductible matches the price of a replacement foil, which is higher than the size of the component suggests.
As with all electric watersports equipment, the battery is the second critical point. Charging according to the manufacturer's instructions, in the case supplied, never unattended: on this condition our hull insurance covers fire and thermal runaway. For transport, a lithium battery may only be carried in an intact housing; a visibly damaged battery does not belong in the car but with a specialist workshop.

Is foil damage covered?
Under full hull cover, yes, in the event of collision and grounding. Wear and delamination through ageing are not. Check the deductible against the price of a replacement foil.
What applies when transporting the battery?
Only in an intact housing. A visibly damaged lithium battery belongs with a specialist workshop and not in the vehicle, and damage in transport arising from it would not be covered.
