Worth knowing
Arcona Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
Arcona builds performance cruising yachts between 10 and 15 metres in Sweden, vacuum-infusion hulls with carbon reinforcement and a carbon rig as an option, designed for fast sailing with a small crew. These are yachts that combine cruising and competition and are sailed accordingly.
Carbon can be insured with us against an additional premium, because repairs mean structural work with vacuum technology and post-curing. With a carbon rig there is one more point: the yard's inspection interval must be observed, because material fatigue is not visible as it is with wire. A dismasting caused by a single event is covered, one caused by fatigue is not, which is why documenting the inspections is not paperwork with a carbon rig.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
What applies to a carbon rig?
Observe and document the yard's inspection interval. A dismasting caused by a single event is covered, material fatigue is wear and tear, and with carbon it cannot be detected from the outside.

For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
