On electric boats the value shifts from the engine to the battery. The battery pack is usually the single most expensive item on board, reacts badly to water ingress and, in a fire, produces a loss picture that a yard treats differently from combustion engine damage. Is the battery of my electric boat covered?
Yes, provided it is part of the sum insured and named in the policy. As the battery is often the most expensive item on board, it should be listed explicitly rather than folded silently into equipment.
Does an electric boat cost more than a motorboat?
Not because of the drive. The premium follows value, length and cruising area. Because electric boats often cost more to buy, the sum insured is higher, and the premium rises through that.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
