With sailing boats the sail area takes the place of engine power as the premium characteristic. For the American 14.6, the American 18 and the American Pennant Daysailer, which have been built since 2018 and up to the present day, we base the rating on that as well as on value, year of construction and cruising range. The brand name has no influence on the premium.
The programme comprises three model ranges, among them a cabin catamaran. For multihulls as for monohulls the same structure applies: the third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros as the basis, and on top of it limited hull cover or full hull cover with an agreed value and indemnity with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).
Anyone taking part in club races with the boat is included from the Basis-Plus tariff upwards. Races with scoring status should be stated when taking out the policy, so that the cover fits from the outset.

With a sailing boat, does the sail area or the engine count?
With sailing boats the sail area forms the premium characteristic, with motorboats the engine power. Added to that are the type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range. The brand never enters into the calculation.
Are races included in the cover?
Club races are included from the Basis-Plus tariff upwards. Report races with scoring status when taking out the policy, then we will assess them as well and include them in the contract.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part, and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
