Anyone taking over a used sailing boat should clarify the cover before the first trip. The Aira 22 has been built since 2015 and still is today, so used and new units exist side by side. NAMMERT insures regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners, and agrees an agreed value under full hull cover.
The agreed value fixes the amount paid in the event of a total loss. There is no deduction for depreciation, new for old, and in the Premium tariff this applies with no age limit. For a boat whose model range has run continuously for more than ten years, that means compensation without any dispute about the replacement value.
The basis remains third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros in the levels Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium. The premium depends on type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area and cruising range, never on the brand. Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros you take out the policy online.

How does the year of construction of an Aira 22 affect the cover?
We insure regardless of the year of construction. Under full hull cover an agreed value applies, compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation, new for old, and in the Premium tariff even with no age limit.
Does the sail area count towards the premium?
Yes. For sailing boats the sail area is included in the calculation, together with type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range. The brand itself plays no part in the premium.
