Worth knowing
AERO Yacht; cover, cost and conditions
Anyone taking over an AERO S-851 second-hand has a sailing boat in front of them that was built between 1995 and 2001. What counts for the insurance cover is not the age but the agreed value: at NAMMERT an agreed value applies in full hull cover, and compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation.
We have no further details about the yard itself, and a single model range with a construction period of six years is recorded. That changes nothing about the cover, because we insure regardless of the year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners, and the premium is based on type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area and cruising range, never on the brand.
The framework is provided by third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros in the Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium levels. On top of this come limited hull cover with fire, storm, lightning strike, theft of the entire boat and damage in winter storage, as well as full hull cover, which additionally covers collision, grounding and vandalism.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
How is the value of an AERO S-851 set in the policy?
When the policy is taken out we agree an agreed value. If a total loss occurs, this amount is paid with no deduction for depreciation, in the Premium tariff with no age limit.
Does the cover also apply outside the season?
Yes. Hull cover applies in winter storage, during craning, launching and along the transport route. There is no time restriction and no night clause in hull cover.

Series by AERO Yacht, build years and cover
AERO S-851 is a sailing yacht from AERO Yacht, built from 1995 to 2001.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
